Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the CNA is to ensure residents receive proper care through tasks such as:

  • Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
  • Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, and transferring residents to and from dining areas as needed, in accordance with nutritional plans.
  • Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance, following facility policies.
  • Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing personal belongings as needed.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in residents' appetite, skin condition, or behaviors that are out of the ordinary.
  • Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents to build trust and promote independence.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of residents and their care to protect their rights and privacy.
  • Documenting medical records, vitals, and assistance provided, in accordance with facility policies.
  • Adhering to safety standards, infection control measures, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, unless working under a student permit.
  • Certified by the Florida State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.

Additional requirements include:

  • Understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within Florida.
  • Interpersonal skills such as assisting licensed nurses, following instructions, working independently, and making decisions.
  • Personal integrity, tactfulness, and the ability to work harmoniously with staff and residents.
  • Judgment in prioritizing tasks, confidentiality, patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate resident conditions effectively.
  • Availability to work every other weekend.
