ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of the CNA is to ensure residents receive proper care through tasks such as:
- Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
- Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, and transferring residents to and from dining areas as needed, in accordance with nutritional plans.
- Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance, following facility policies.
- Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing personal belongings as needed.
- Observing and reporting any changes in residents' appetite, skin condition, or behaviors that are out of the ordinary.
- Offering emotional support and actively listening to residents to build trust and promote independence.
- Maintaining confidentiality of residents and their care to protect their rights and privacy.
- Documenting medical records, vitals, and assistance provided, in accordance with facility policies.
- Adhering to safety standards, infection control measures, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, unless working under a student permit.
- Certified by the Florida State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.
Additional requirements include:
- Understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within Florida.
- Interpersonal skills such as assisting licensed nurses, following instructions, working independently, and making decisions.
- Personal integrity, tactfulness, and the ability to work harmoniously with staff and residents.
- Judgment in prioritizing tasks, confidentiality, patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
- Ability to communicate resident conditions effectively.
- Availability to work every other weekend.
