Position SummaryThe Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and conditioning of the golf course, practice facilities, and associated grounds. This role requires strong agronomic expertise, leadership skills, budget discipline, and a commitment to excellence in course presentation and member satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and execute all agronomic and maintenance programs for the golf course and practice facilities
- Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets; control expenses while maintaining exceptional course conditions
- Lead, train, and mentor the agronomy team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and pride
- Oversee irrigation systems, water management, chemical applications, and equipment maintenance
- Collaborate closely with the General Manager, Golf Professional, and leadership team to align course conditions with club goals and event schedules
- Communicate effectively with members regarding course conditions, agronomic practices, and long-term improvement plans
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to safety, environmental stewardship, and labor practices
- Plan and execute course improvement projects and long-range agronomic strategies
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at a high-quality facility
- Strong knowledge of warm-season turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and Florida growing conditions
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, develop, and retain a high-performing team
- Budgeting and financial management experience
- GCSAA membership preferred
- Florida pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain)
