MECHANIC MAINTENANCE role at Cemex U.S.

The Maintenance Mechanic performs all types of mechanical jobs throughout the assigned area. Maintain plant equipment and facilities to meet operating requirements and objectives, during and outside of regular operation schedules and maintenance.

• Perform maintenance mechanic assignments on plant equipment and facilities
• Collect data for preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects
• Perform millwright assignments such as bearing replacement, alignment of equipment, and inspection and repair of power transmission according to plant standards
• Perform welding and cutting assignments such as fabrication of plant equipment and structures and repair of worn process equipment according to plant standards
• Inspect lubrication for mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required, drain oil and change oil and filters on all equipment oil reservoirs
• Perform pipefitter assignments to install, maintain and inspect existing and future piping structures on all types of piping systems
• Operate mobile equipment to assist with completing maintenance assigned duties
• Perform plumbing inspection and repair on plant equipment and facilities
• Adhere to all Cemex, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Meet or exceed company safety standards
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior mechanical experience/welding experience, training or certification required
• Prior plant maintenance mechanic experience a plus
• Bi-lingual (a plus)

• Ability to carry out short and complex oral and written instructions and solve problems from standard situations
• Good mathematical skills, basic math, fractions and conversions in both metric and decimal systems
• Ability to read and understand English to read technical manuals, reports, and instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, welders, leadmen, other Mechanics, maintenance personnel, co-workers and outside contractors
• Electrical and mechanical knowledge to detect safety hazards and equipment issues and respond appropriately
• Ability to identify and select appropriate material and equipment to perform mechanical work and repairs
• High level of attentiveness and physical coordination for safe and productive work

• Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and outdoor work
• Must wear protective equipment while on site

• Must be able to perform all job functions including walking, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and operating controls
• Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly
• Regularly required to talk and hear to communicate and work around heavy equipment
