Pay, Hours & Availability
Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from £12.45 an hour, increasing to £13.66 for stores within the M25. Additional pay may apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with a minimum of 12 hours available for those who prefer fewer hours.
Availability windows (example):
- Mon: 06:00 – 12:00
- Tue: 06:00 – 12:00
- Wed: 06:00 – 13:00
- Thu: 06:00 – 13:00
- Fri: 05:00 – 13:00
- Sat: 05:00 – 13:00
We will schedule your contracted hours within these times and give you a 3‑week notice of your shifts. We support flexibility—if your available times differ slightly from our advertised windows, we are happy to consider you.
What you’ll do- Get to know customers and serve them with passion and pride; give great natural service.
- Be passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services within the store.
- Work across the store, including service, picking and replenishment areas where required.
- Put into practice the training you have received, ensuring safe, effective work and superb customer service.
- Make decisions that are right for customers, delivering routines that meet their needs at the right time.
- Take part in seasonal, community and charity events, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
- Use your knowledge of the store’s performance to help drive service, sales, reduce waste and shrink and deliver profit.
- Handle products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in the best condition.
- Live Tesco’s values, making everyone feel welcome and always follow policies.
- Accept deliveries into the store when required.
- A passion for delivering great service, greeting customers with a smile and pride.
- Ability to build rapport so customers leave a positive experience.
