Job Type: Full-time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Construction Surveyor to join our team supporting heavy civil, utility, civil construction, and deep foundation projects. The Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate construction layout, field measurements, elevations, control points, and as-built information to support safe, efficient, and precise project execution.

The ideal candidate has strong construction surveying experience and is comfortable working in active construction environments around heavy equipment, underground utilities, structures, foundations, and large-scale earthwork operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform construction surveying and layout for heavy civil, utility, civil, and deep foundation projects.
  • Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control points throughout the project.
  • Perform layout for excavation, grading, drainage, underground utilities, structures, foundations, piles, drilled shafts, retaining walls, roads, and other site improvements.
  • Provide precise line, grade, elevation, and location information to project management and field crews.
  • Conduct topographic, boundary, as-built, and quantity surveys as required.
  • Perform layout for deep foundation operations, including pile locations, pile caps, drilled shafts, footing locations, and foundation components.
  • Verify existing conditions and identify discrepancies between plans and field conditions.
  • Collect and document as-built information for completed work.
  • Operate and maintain total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic instruments, levels, data collectors, and other surveying equipment.
  • Download, review, and manage field survey data.
  • Read and interpret civil, structural, utility, grading, and foundation drawings.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Engineers, and subcontractors to resolve field layout and elevation issues.
  • Assist with quantity measurements and progress documentation when required.
  • Maintain accurate survey notes, field books, electronic files, and project documentation.
  • Perform quality-control checks on survey work and independently verify critical layout.
  • Identify potential conflicts between design documents and existing field conditions and communicate issues promptly.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other surveying and construction-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Construction Surveyor, Field Surveyor, Instrument Man, Party Chief, or similar position.
  • Experience with heavy civil construction strongly preferred.
  • Experience with underground utilities, sitework, roadway construction, structures, or deep foundations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction layout, elevations, grades, coordinates, and survey control.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and survey documents.
  • Proficiency with total stations, robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and digital data collectors.
  • Experience with survey software and/or CAD systems preferred.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with field and project management teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active construction operations.
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials and safely access uneven or active construction areas.
