About the Position

Helix Energy Solutions Group is seeking a Field Engineer to oversee design, development, and continuous improvement of coiled tubing services.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee design, development, testing of coiled tubing and pressure control equipment, ensuring compliance with API Q2, BSEE, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Lead engineering project timelines and budgets; allocate resources to ensure deliverables meet customer expectations.
  • Execute compliance & quality assurance: document designs, conduct failure analysis, root‑cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support to field operations; analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering personnel; conduct performance evaluations and training programs.
  • Assist the Department Manager in ensuring personnel training per government, company, and customer requirements.
  • Assist Engineering Manager in expense/income ratio management through proactive district operations management.
  • Maintain safety compliance: verify pre‑job planning, inspection procedures, and incident investigations; enforce HSE SOPs and STOP WORK program.
Prerequisites & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in coiled tubing, pressure control, or oilfield services engineering.
  • Proven project management and team leadership experience.
  • Expertise in coiled tubing, pressure control, hydraulic systems; strong knowledge of API Q2, BSEE.
  • Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD) and FEA, coiled tubing simulation (Cerberus, Orion

    NET).
  • Strong HSE risk assessment, failure analysis, root‑cause analysis experience.
  • Ability to work 24‑hour on‑call schedule and meet physical requirements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to read, write reports, and present information.
  • Advanced mathematical skills: probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry; applied in practical contexts.
  • Reasoning ability: define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift 40 lbs from floor to knuckle repeatedly; lift 30 lbs knuckle to overhead.
  • Pull a sled with 75 lbs over 50 feet one time.
  • Hang from 1.5" rope for 15 seconds (offshore only).
  • Climb to third rung of stepladder and return to floor 5 times.
Language Skills
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Present information effectively to customers and employees.
