Responsibilities

Signicast is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Manufacturing Technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining production equipment, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.

Night shift- 6:00 pm- 6:00 am on a 12-hour 2-2-3 rotating schedule. The starting wage depends on experience + applicable shift premiums.

Available Manufacturing Technician Roles

Melt/Rough Clean Technician: Responsible for converting parts into metal by transferring liquid metals into molds and then removing the ceramic mold from the parts.

  • Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards
  • Respond to alarms on melt units, caustic units (where applicable), KOH units, furnaces, and revert dryer for safety and proper functioning
  • Detect sounds from equipment for proper functioning (ex: listen for abnormal sounds of equipment such as blades on cutting saw, grinding sounds, whining sounds on melting pot)
  • Melting alloys to form metal in pot
  • Pouring metal into molds and setting down correctly according to standard practices
  • Removing ceramic in rough clean with water blaster and/or caustic, cutting off from sprue with a cut‑off saw or cold break unit, and desludging tanks to clean them
  • Maintaining the quality of metal to specifications indicated on standard practices, checking components of metal pot by performing a slug test using the spectrometer, adding alloys to the pot to bring a sample to specifications, performing final burn, and saving into the computer

Wax Technician: set up and run automated wax injection presses. The injected parts are then assembled onto the sprue to create the part mold. These jobs require highly detailed inspection of parts as well as manual dexterity. Wax Technicians must be able to work in a fast paced environment with emphasis on quality and be committed to excellence.

  • Measurement of the slurry mixture to ensure the right consistency
  • Adding sand and cleaning sand beds
  • Cleaning of the slurry tanks when needed - Large vats that need to be emptied, scraped, washed down, and re-filled with a slurry mixture
  • Unscrewing the mold from the mold hanger in order to put a cup on the mold for the next step
  • Move the mold from the cup machine and load it onto the mold cart to load into the autoclave.
  • Loading and unloading of the autoclave
  • Patch molds so there are no leaks
  • Place molds onto the conveyer system that enters into the burn‑out furnace
  • Complete required inspection and tests of products

Finishing Technicians: are responsible for performing a variety of assignments related to regular and special department functions to ensure the mold continuously flows through the Cell with minimal to no interruption in the process. Finishing Technicians are responsible for ensuring the parts are defect‑free, meet customer specifications, and are shipped to the customer.

  • Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards
  • English reading of the Finishing cell standard practices and procedures in the Signicast Access system
  • Checking the quality of parts and fixing/welding to customer specifications
  • Tapping holes in parts to customer specifications
  • Detecting cracks in parts (mag particles)
  • Dependable and reliable attendance is required
