What we’re looking for

We're looking for an experienced Manual Lathes operator for 1st shift. Hours can be flexible but typical hours are 7 am - 3 pm. We will accept full or part time.

This role is responsible for:

  • Study blueprints, layouts/charts, and routings for information on specifications and tooling instructions, and to determine material requirements and operational sequences & specifications.
  • Set up and operate a manual lathe to produce precision parts with tight tolerances.
  • Ensure all components produced meet specifications using appropriate measuring equipment such as micrometers, vernier, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.
  • Must be able to select suitable tools and inserts and cutters, according to written specifications and shop mathematics.
  • Move controls to set cutting speeds and depths and feed rates, and to position tools in relation to work pieces.
Experience and Education
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, basic geometry, statistics and their applications.
  • Prefer 3+ years of work experience as a manual lathe machinist.
Physical Functions
  • Standing 90% to 100% (set up and operate metal working machinery)
  • Programming Machinery 0% to 10%
  • Sitting 0% to 10%
  • Walking 5% to 15%
  • Fine Hand Motor Skills 75% to 100%
  • Lifting 10-20 lbs frequently; 21-50 lbs usually; 51+ lbs occasionally (lifting equipment available)
