Within CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight. We are looking for an EVA and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP) Senior Safety Engineer (Senior Project Engineer
- Technical Project Management). This role will be responsible for proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential safety hazards throughout the lifecycle of Artemis missions, ensuring the safety of astronauts, space systems, ground systems, and mission objectives by conducting thorough risk assessments, developing safety requirements, and providing expert safety oversight during design, development, testing, and operations phases to ensure compliance.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site in Houston, TX, at Johnson Space Center.
What You’ll Be Doing- Safety Requirements Development:
Translate identified risks into specific safety requirements that must be incorporated into project designs, procedures, and operations. - Safety Panel Reviews:
Lead and/or participate in EHP program/project safety panel reviews and assess program compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement. - Safety Oversight:
Provide technical expertise and safety guidance to engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing design documents, test plans, and procedures for safety compliance. - Risk Assessment:
Perform comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards, analyze their likelihood and severity, and develop mitigation strategies for all aspects of a space program. - Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with engineers, project managers, mission planners, and other stakeholders to integrate safety considerations into all aspects of the program.

Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in a technical discipline
- 10+ years’ experience working in technical disciplines across large government programs
- Excellent presentation and communications skills, including development of and briefing of decision packages and complex information in a succinct and polished manner
- Ability to work within a diverse team environment with different engineering disciplines, where the team is distributed across multiple NASA and Aerospace Corporation organizations, projects and programs and you are the key safety POC
- Ability to identify and communicate safety concerns to leadership in a diplomatic manner
- Superior analytical, planning, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent tasks and provide direction on competing priorities
- Demonstrated success in integrations and team leadership
- Deep understanding of HSF safety requirements and tools
- This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
