Responsible for ensuring proper installation of tooling, mold base, and process set‑ups to produce top‑quality injection molded products, while meeting manufacturing objectives cost‑effectively.
Responsibilities- Knowledge and recognition of plastic fittings by name, shape, and dimension.
- Knowledge of daily performance goals and working to achieve 100% of targeted output.
- Completion of production paperwork accurately and in real time.
- Maintain necessary reporting documentation such as shots per hour (SPH), cycle time, and downtime reasons.
- Assist with or perform tooling, mold base, machine, and process changes (changeovers):
- Ensure proper line clearance and start‑up, effective efficiency.
- Return all pilots, lockdowns, extra cores, or unused parts to proper storage.
- Skilled in removal and installation of mold bases and tooling for all products (A‑Level Mold Technician).
- Assist with or perform tooling, mold base, machine, and process troubleshooting:
- Skilled in tooling, machine and process troubleshooting for all products (A‑Level Mold Technician).
- Make necessary machine/process adjustments to obtain quality product while maintaining standard SPH:
- Routine inspection of parts at the molding machine and on the operator’s belt to ensure parts meet quality specifications.
- Proficient in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic tools for general maintenance functions.
- Detect, segregate and isolate non‑conforming quality defects and notify Sr. Mold Technician, Supervisor, Manager, or QA Department. Identify defect types such as short shots, burns, weld lines, watermarks, defective threads, etc.
- Identify and correct tooling, machine or process problems as they arise.
- Assist with or perform removal and installation of feed screws and nozzles.
- Assist Acting Supervisor and Sr. Mold Technicians in training class B‑D Mold Technicians (A‑Level Mold Tech).
- Minimize downtime by resolving or escalating machine‑related problems to Maintenance and Supervision.
- Maintain proper organization and cleanliness of assigned work area to highest standards (5S):
- Perform daily 5S audit.
- Inspect and clean oil skimmers.
- Perform all above functions with minimum supervision.
- Any other duties assigned by supervision or management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education a plus.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of injection molding machine and its electrical, hydraulic, PLC and safety controls. Ability to operate HMI, electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Basic PLC, electrical, hydraulic systems training/experience or machine shop training and 1‑2 years experience (entry level) or up to 6‑8 years (advanced level).
- Manufacturing experience in plastic injection molding with knowledge of resins and plastic materials preferred.
- Forklift (truck) certification required.
- English reading comprehension, mathematical skills, reasoning ability, strong workplace communication.
Must be able to bend, squat, twist, climb, push/pull, reach and lift up to 50 lbs on occasion. Reasonable accommodations for disabilities possible.
Work EnvironmentGeneral factory. Exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust, oil/grease and traveling powered industrial vehicles.
