Commercial Buyer – SA Recycling

Join SA Recycling as a Commercial Buyer to procure and price ferrous and non-ferrous materials, develop new business sources, visit customers and make informed purchasing decisions to maximize profitability in a dynamic market.

• Procure and price ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials within guidelines for new and existing accounts.
• Develop strategic plans for new business to generate new sources of ferrous and/or non-ferrous material.
• Visit and maintain current and potential customers such as demolition contractors, dealers, auto wreckers, construction projects, and industrial accounts to investigate and generate new sources of ferrous and/or non-ferrous material.
• Monitor commodity market trends in conjunction with the operation's material flow to make informed purchase decisions to maximize profitability.
• Purchase scrap to meet or exceed volume and profitability targets.
• Ensure purchased ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials conform to specifications.
• Investigate and resolve supplier complaints, ensuring complaints are recorded and follow-up actions are verified in accordance with SA Recycling’s guidelines.
• Complete and submit monthly reports in a timely and accurate manner and participate in meetings to discuss and review results.

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales, or marketing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal industry and processing & logistics techniques.
• Prior experience in ferrous and non-ferrous buying preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Creative problem‑solving skills and ability to resolve issues and provide solutions.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
