Company Description

The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) is a Type B economic development organization funded by a ¼ cent sales tax on every taxable dollar spent within Brownsville city limits. BCIC is dedicated to enhancing quality of life through equitable and innovative economic development initiatives, with the goal of making Brownsville a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous community. The organization supports initiatives that foster small businesses, entrepreneurship, business growth, workforce development, and community vitality.

Role Description

This full-time, on-site role is located in the Brownsville Metropolitan Area and reports to the President & CEO. The Vice President of Entrepreneurship & Innovation is an executive leader serving as the second-in-command and will lead entrepreneurial and business development initiatives, drive strategic partnerships, oversee innovation programs, and strengthen start-up ecosystems in alignment with BCIC's mission. Daily responsibilities include creating and implementing strategies to support small businesses and startups, managing programs focused on economic growth, and fostering collaboration with local stakeholders to promote innovation and job creation.

Qualifications
  • Strong Analytical Skills and Research abilities to assess trends and provide informed recommendations.
  • Expertise in Strategic Planning and Strategic Partnerships for executing business development initiatives and fostering collaboration.
  • Proven abilities in Project Management to oversee and drive the successful implementation of entrepreneurial and innovation programs.
  • Highly organized, with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-sector partners and the community.
  • Deep knowledge of Texas Type A and Type B economic development statutes, governance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred) with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in related fields.
  • Experience in economic development, innovation ecosystems, or entrepreneurship is preferred.
