The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences (SMSS) at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, to begin in Fall 2026, based on the Brownsville campus - one position in Mathematics and two in Statistics. We seek candidates with strong research potential in any area of Mathematics or Statistics, with particular preference given to applicants specializing in Statistics for the two Statistics positions.
Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain a productive, independent research program with the potential to secure extramural funding, demonstrate excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and actively contribute to the growth and development of the School’s academic programs. Faculty in these positions are also expected to strengthen and complement the School’s Ph.D. program in Mathematics and Statistics with Interdisciplinary Applications and to contribute to the academic and local community through mentorship, collaboration, and service aligned with the mission of UTRGV.
We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving the UTRGV’s student body as an Assistant Professor of the SMSS beginning in the academic year.
