This unique role will be a part of Space
X's Starbase education team. The education team's primary goal is supporting the education of all children who are part of the Space
X community. As such, this job comes with many responsibilities, including counseling students and working with families, finding resources for families, and helping to build a broader education community that supports students with unique needs. This individual will work closely with the Starbase Education Director throughout the year.
- Provide social emotional and mental health counseling services to students
- Set long-term programming visions and lead implementation for school and communities
- Work with students in 1:1 or in small group settings and document interventions
- Provide guidance to families on how to support their students, which may include discussing student progress, discussing students' IEPs, providing strategies to parents on how they can support their children at home, discussing achievement scores with families, hosting events with parents, handling ad-hoc requests from families, and facilitating Starbase-wide education communication
- Advise teachers and Head of School on programs and practices that support the mental wellbeing of students
- Coordinate with external agencies
- Help lead other ad-hoc programs/operations that are essential to the success of Starbase Education
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years working with students in a teaching or counseling capacity
- State of Texas Licensed Professional Counselor, Texas school counselor certification, or social worker credential
- Master's degree in counseling, education, psychology, social work, or related field
- Experience working with parents of students
- Experience planning and implementing education programs
- Excellent skills in prioritization, time management and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in stakeholder management and presenting to senior leaders
- Deeply curious and ready to work hard in high pressure, fast-paced environments
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.
* 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C.
