Summary:

The Environmental Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring environmental management and compliance on an active LNG construction site. This position requires hands‑on experience supporting fixed facility construction projects—such as LNG, petrochemical, or similar industrial sites. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Construction team to deliver quality environmental outcomes and maintain strict adherence to regulatory standards. Strong teamwork, communication, and a cooperative approach are essential.

A fit‑for‑duty assessment will be required prior to assignment and per diem can be paid to individuals who are not local.

Job Duties

The Environmental Specialist is charged with performing a wide array of tasks related to environmental compliance at the Project site. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement programs and procedures to assure compliance of the construction site with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections: physically walking construction sites to observe stormwater BMPs and implementation of approved Erosion and Sedimentation Control plans and permit requirements.
  • Inspect environmental performance and address any potential violations and concerns.
  • Complete and organize all written reports documenting observations and action items needed.
  • Communicate observations with project personnel to expedite a response plan for needs or concerns.
  • Maintain and track compliance obligations.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training.
  • Educate site staff on permit requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work with various contractors to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Audit project plans and requirements (stormwater, SPCC, waste, air).
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of related experience.
  • Well versed in stormwater, SPCC, and waste.
  • Experience with compliance management systems to track and trend compliance.
  • Preferred experience on FERC‑regulated projects and experience with TCEQ.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Windows.
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills (English language).
  • Ability to communicate with various disciplines including construction, craft, and engineering teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state requirements for LNG terminals.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Environmental Sciences, Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/fax, filing cabinets, etc. This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift.
  • Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as required in order to lift files, boxes and office equipment as necessary.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stand on a stool, or climb as necessary to perform these functions.
