ESS - 307 Project Overview
Our client is partnering with Next Decade to support their vision of providing the world with lower‑carbon energy through the Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal located on a 984‑acre site along the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the project includes three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks, and one marine berth.
At full capacity, the five‑train facility will produce 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Job SummaryPerforms construction engineering assignments requiring a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices. Exercises professional judgment within broad guidelines and may provide direction to less experienced construction engineers or office personnel. May specialize in a field or take a lead role in a specific segment of a construction project.
Major Responsibilities- Assist construction superintendents in planning construction methods and procedures.
- Coordinate and resolve engineering or construction issues with superintendents.
- Interpret design drawings and prepare construction working drawings, including temporary facilities, field sketches, revisions, additions, and “as‑built” drawings.
- Review design, vendor drawings, and installation instructions; study interference problems.
- Prepare or direct preparation of field material purchase requisitions, estimating quantities and material takeoffs.
- Track commodities using quantity tracking systems or other databases.
- Assist with coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage, expediting, and engineering reports.
- Prepare projections and schedules for workforce, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare field change notices/requests, extra work orders, and back charge notices.
- Review project control documents and ensure automation programs are implemented for field use.
- Prepare cost estimates and review project design and bills of materials.
- Maintain records of costs and quantities, evaluate data, and generate reports for project management.
- Monitor subcontractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Administer change notices and amendments; audit contractor progress payment requests.
- Maintain updated subcontractor schedules.
- Monitor installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings and specifications.
- Provide input on constructability and lessons learned.
- May contribute to employee reviews for assigned personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with relevant work experience.
- Specialized coursework in construction management, contract law, or mathematics preferred.
- Knowledge of a technical engineering discipline, contract administration, and/or cost and scheduling in heavy industrial projects.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Awareness of environmental compliance laws and requirements.
- Knowledge of our client’s “Zero Accident” safety program.
- Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
