Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician coordinates mechanical labor and resources to execute repairs, modifications, and upgrades on oil and gas projects. This role requires hands‑on expertise with piping, valves, pumps, vessels, and chemical systems; proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and completing as‑built redlines; and experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes. The technician ensures safety and quality, supervises third‑party resources, and applies strong work management and cost control skills.
KeyAccountabilities
- Accountable for coordinating mechanical labor and material resources for brownfield project and modification execution
- Manage and execute break/fix work including repairs on piping, valves, fittings, vessels, pumps, and chemical systems
- Responsible for executing modification work in alignment with engineering specifications approved through MOC process with completion of Mechanical Completion, System Handover, and Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)
- Plan, prioritize and execute work activities in accordance with WMS prioritization guidance, ensuring work readiness, efficient scheduling, and effective use of labor and material
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team (production operations, engineering, I&E) to define project scope and feedback information from walkdowns and planning to ensure efficient execution and optimized value delivery
- Complete as‑built redlines with engineering support for MOC documentation closeout
- Responsible for safety performance of third‑party resources working under direct supervision
- Safely delivering projects such as surface artificial lift installs, compression optimization, facility electrification, and static‑mechanical equipment upgrades
- Embed a culture of operating discipline and quality assurance
- Participate in investigations and integrate lessons learned for project specific applicability
- Adhere strictly to BPX control of work (COW) and task risk assessment requirements
- Share knowledge with co‑workers and strive to meet personal and company business goals and objectives
- Work effectively with MTL to manage project spend in alignment with cost targets
- 7+ years in oil & gas operations or similar industry
- Demonstrated project execution expertise from concept through commissioning
- Track record of success in a dynamic work environment
- Embraces change and fosters innovation while maintaining rigorous processes
- Ability to work 14/14 rotation schedule and 12‑hour shifts

CompensationBase salary $90,000‑$106,000 (good faith estimate at posting). Additional compensation may include discretionary annual bonus, long‑term incentive program, and 401(k) matching.
