Positions Reporting to this Role: Accountants in USA and MX.
ObjectiveThe Finance Director is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company’s financial strategy, accounting, treasury, compliance, and risk management functions across U.S. and Mexico operations. This role requires deep experience in the trucking and transportation industry, with a strong understanding of cross-border operations, multi-entity financial structures, and regulatory compliance in both countries.
The Finance Director will play a critical role in supporting operational efficiency, profitability, capital allocation, and long-term growth while ensuring financial integrity and regulatory compliance across international operations.
Financial Strategy & Leadership- Develop and execute the company’s overall financial strategy aligned with business goals and growth initiatives.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team on financial planning, risk management, and investment decisions.
- Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, and capital structure optimization for U.S. and Mexico entities.
- Support acquisitions, and cross-border expansion initiatives as applicable.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for U.S. and Mexico operations.
- Manage consolidated financial statements across multiple entities and currencies.
- Create and maintain robust internal controls, audits, and financial policies in compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable Mexican accounting standards (NIF/IFRS where applicable).
- Coordinate external audits, tax advisors, and regulatory examinations.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and Mexican tax regulations, customs requirements, transfer pricing standards, and intercompany transactions.
- Oversee cross-border cash management, currency exposure, and repatriation strategies.
- Partner with operations, and HR teams to ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, IRS, SAT (Mexico), and other regulatory compliance.
- Manage financial risks associated with international operations, including FX, insurance, and regulatory changes.
- Work closely with operations leadership to monitor and improve key performance metrics such as:
- Cost per mile
- Fuel and DEF expense management
- Linehaul and cross-border lane profitability
- Equipment utilization and asset ROI.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting for fleet operations, and terminals.
- Evaluate equipment purchases, leases, and financing structures (tractors, trailers, company assets).
- Support driver compensation modeling, incentive programs, and labor cost optimization.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity in both countries.
- Oversee debt compliance, lender reporting, and covenant management.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies related to litigation, and operational exposure.
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing finance and accounting individuals in the U.S. and Mexico.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and scalability across finance functions.
- Partner with IT to optimize TMS, ERP, and financial systems integration.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- The Finance Director shall have full authority over the company’s accounting, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and financial compliance across U.S. and Mexican operations.
- The Finance Director is authorized to establish financial policies, approve operating expenditures within approved budgets, and act as the primary financial advisor to ownership, subject to owner approval for major capital commitments, long-term debt, and strategic transactions.
