The pay rate for this job is $15 - $15 / hour*
What you'll be doing as a Customs Entry Writer:- Prepare and submit customs entries accurately and within required deadlines
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, purchase orders, and other import documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), as applicable
- Prepare and transmit Importer Security Filings (ISF)
- Create, process, and monitor in-bond shipments
- Ensure entries comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and all applicable import requirements
- Apply applicable tariffs and trade measures, including Section 232, Section 301, and other special trade programs, when required
- Monitor shipment status and coordinate cargo releases, deliveries, and customs clearance activities
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, or compliance concerns and work with customers to resolve issues promptly
- Communicate with clients regarding entry requirements, documentation, classifications, shipment status, and other customs-related inquiries
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with onboarding new customers and maintaining positive client relationships
- Prepare customer quotes and respond to requests for customs brokerage and related services
- Prepare and process customer invoices and assist with billing-related activities
- Maintain accurate records of entries, shipments, billing, and customer communications
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouses, customers, and government agencies as needed
- Identify and communicate potential compliance, operational, or customer service issues to management
- Stay current on customs regulations, tariff changes, and import/export procedures
- Work efficiently and accurately while managing multiple shipments, entries, and deadlines
Shift timings - 1st Shift (Day) & Weekends
Job requirements:- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with People Ready
- 3-5+ years of experience in customs brokerage, customs entry processing, import operations, freight forwarding, or a related logistics environment
- Experience processing customs entries, ISFs, in-bond shipments, and import documentation
- Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and import requirements
- Experience with customer service, shipment coordination, and invoicing preferred
- Experience using ACE, NetCHB, Descartes, Cargo Wise, or similar customs software required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments, entries, and deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify and resolve documentation- and entry-related issues
- Professional and customer-focused approach
- Background check and drug test required
