Job Summary:
The Career Coach-Special Projects is responsible for servicing adults and youth (ages 14-24) ) through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) program, serving eligible offenders released from a facility through the Partners for Reentry Opportunities in Workforce Development (PROWD) grant program and any special projects. Work involves eligibility determination, individualized assessments, employment planning, case management, progress monitoring, coordinating supportive services, and providing follow-up services to ensure that necessary supports are in place to attain and retain employment.

The target goal for customers served is employment at or above the self-sufficiency wage, with job retention tracked for at least one year after exiting the program.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform post-release case management for the reentry and integration of offenders released from a correctional facility; assists with program monitoring and evaluation; assists with coordinating activities to produce an effective reentry transitional process.
  • Provide workforce center services orientation to program participants and establish eligibility for program services.

  • Conduct individualized job readiness assessment to identify skills, needs and barriers to employment.
  • Determine appropriate reentry pathway based on participant's education and training level.
  • Develop individualized employment plan to achieve pathway goal that is customized to participant's specific needs and barriers.
  • Provide ongoing case management for each program participant and follow-up with supportive services providers.
  • Coordinate supportive services, as needed, to eligible participants.
  • Evaluates program's effectiveness and ensuring that operational and contract requirements are met.
  • Monitors customer case files for eligibility documentation.
  • Assists with setting center goals.
  • Monitors and analyzes centers performance goals and reports to management.
  • Represents the center at meetings and participating in the civic and social activities.
  • Informs and educates businesses and individuals regarding the work of the center and increase employment opportunities for clients in the area.
    Prepare, submit and monitor case management documentation throughout the duration of client participation in the program, ensuring that data is entered into TWIST system in a timely manner.

Other Functions:

  • Provide information to potential clients and verify eligibility for services.
  • Conduct interviews to determine client needs.
  • Develop and track employment plans, and provide case management for each client.
  • Coordinate supportive services such as child care, general transportation, bus tokens, mileage reimbursements and vouchers, and maintain confidentiality thereof.
  • Conduct follow-up with clients and supportive services providers.
  • Monitor client progress through appropriate activities, and take timely action when client circumstances preclude achievement of goal.
  • Travel to attend meetings training and other activities
  • May facilitate group orientations.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 year previous work experience in customer service or training
  • Knowledge of management, office procedures and possess the ability to supervise professional and clerical staff.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others in a manner conducive to high productivity and morale
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to perform basic word processing and data entry.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with the communities being served.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources.

Preferred:
Previous experience with TWIST software system.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
