Snap Tax is a real-time quarterly tax planning platform built for freelancers and independent contractors. We help 1099 workers calculate quarterly estimated taxes, track deductions, and find tax savings throughout the year. Our platform is built on Lovable (React-based) and connects to Git Hub for version control and deployment.
We're looking for a part-time QA Engineer Intern to help us build an automated testing environment from the ground up. This is a project-focused role with a clear deliverable: a working automated test suite integrated with our Git Hub repository that covers our most critical user workflows. The right candidate will leave us with a process we can run independently - and may have the opportunity to continue working with us beyond the initial engagement.
Whatyou'll build:
- An automated end-to-end testing environment using Playwright (preferred) or a comparable framework - must be AI based
- Test scripts covering Snap Tax's critical workflows - user signup and onboarding, tax profile setup, quarterly estimate calculation, income and expense entry, and payment logging
- Integration with our Git Hub repository so tests can be triggered on new builds
- Clear documentation so the test suite can be maintained by our staff
- Currently enrolled in a CS, Software Engineering, or related program at UT Austin
- Experience with or strong interest in Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar end-to-end testing frameworks
- Comfortable working with Git Hub - branching, pull requests, basic CI/CD concepts
- Familiarity with React-based web applications
- Experience with or interest in AI-assisted development tools
- Self-directed - this role requires someone who can take ownership of a project, not just complete assigned tasks
- Clear written communication for documenting the test environment setup and test coverage
- Part-time, hourly - approximately 10-15 hours per week
- Remote - flexible schedule around your classes
- Direct collaboration with the founder
- Real product with paying users - your work ships to production
- Potential to continue beyond the initial project
This position requires candidates to be currently enrolled at UT Austin or another accredited US university, preferably one in Texas. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and physically located in the US for the duration of the engagement. Due to the financial data involved in this role, we are unable to consider applicants outside the United States.
