TJJD - Program Specialist III-VI - Health Specialist III-VI - Mental Health Professional - (BWD) - 52065

Join to apply for the TJJD Health/Mental Health Professional role in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (BWD) 52065. This position is part of the career ladder for Health Specialists, with a working title of Mental Health Professional. Placement on the ladder depends on education, licensure, and experience. Progression to the highest pay level depends on experience and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a range of direct psychological services to youth adjudicated delinquent of felony offenses and committed to the agency by a juvenile court.
  • Conduct trauma-informed individual, group, family, trauma, and crisis counseling sessions; administer and interpret psychological evaluations for youth at risk of suicide or in need of specialized treatment.
  • Assist in monitoring the agency s Texas Model of Trauma-Informed Corrections treatment program and review/monitor specialized treatment programs.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, administrators, treatment staff, case management, parole officers, and contracted staff; participate in MDT/YST staffing for youth transitioning into the community and exiting the agency system.
  • Lead or train others as needed and participate in program evaluations and in-service training for facility staff.
  • Document direct services provided to youth and families and coordinate with program staff in planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation of agency programs.
  • Provide policy interpretation, advice, and guidance related to the program; assist in developing program policies.
  • May work beyond 40 hours per week, include various shifts, on-call duties, and travel occasionally as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicant must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and meet any other requirements listed under Minimum Qualifications.
  • Progression on the TJJD career ladder is based on education, licensure, and experience, with advancement dependent on agency policy and performance.
