Attention all Optometry Technicians: we are calling on you to work with us providing dental exams and treatment for Military Service members. You will primarily work weekends, with occasional weekdays in the State of Texas on an "as needed" basis.
We provide Health Readiness Services to meet the medical and dental requirements needed to maintain a deployable military force for the following organizations:
- U.S. Army Reserve (USAR)
- Army National Guard (ARNG)
- U.S. Navy Reserve (USNR)
- U.S. Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)
- U.S. Coast Guard Reserve (USCGR)
- Air National Guard (ANG)
- U.S. Air Force Reserve (USAFR)
This position works directly with the patient, operates optical machinery, and interfaces with patient‑care software. Working as an optometric technician may include the following duties:
- Helping the optometrist with procedures and patient care
- Taking patient histories and maintaining the patient records system
- Assisting patients to select a suitable frame for their glasses
- Demonstrating care and maintenance of lenses to patients
- Repairing minor issues with broken and damaged eyeglasses
- Keeping the office organized and presentable, and making the exam room ready
- Testing visual acuity, depth perception, and pupil reflexes
Requirements:
- 1+ year of experience as an optometric or ophthalmic technician
- Experience performing visual fields, OCTs, and fundus photography is required
- Experience with computers, including knowledge of word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs
- Must have own transportation for site traveling
