The Texas Juvenile Justice Department seeks a Dorm Supervisor II – Senior Team Leader (BWD) to lead a dorm supervisory team, oversee youth development coach staff, and ensure safe, trauma‑informed operations in a high‑security juvenile correctional facility.

- Set performance goals for staff in alignment with agency objectives.
- Ensure staff understand delegated tasks and provide constructive feedback.
- Review camera footage and conduct regular safety and procedural checks.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate staff; collaborate with Senior Coaches.
- Maintain adherence to agency policies, Texas Model of trauma‑informed corrections, and legal standards.
- Attend to youth and staff conduct issues promptly at the lowest level.
- Participate in staff selection to ensure fit for the dorm.
- Establish and sustain a positive dorm culture built on teamwork, coaching, and care.
- Foster trust among staff and resolve conflicts; act as calming agent during escalations.
- Communicate authority‑driven directives and disseminate leadership information timely.
- Ensure staff complete required trainings.
- Model TBRI principles and provide oversight, coaching, and feedback to staff.
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule dorm activities, including nurture groups.
- Lead weekly dorm leadership meetings with case managers, senior coaches, and psychologists.
- Provide technical assistance and training to coaches.
- Encourage staff to practice safety and emotional regulation.
- Enforce compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards related to dorm safety.
- Use data to inform decisions and improve programs and operations.
- Recognize and reward staff creativity and contributions.
- Ensure effective shift‑change transitions and staff self‑regulation support.
- Conduct follow‑up visits with staff after incidents to identify needs and provide support.
- Lead the team and youth in developing dorm identity, rituals, and celebrations.
- Approve/deny timesheets to ensure timely, accurate payment.
- Maintain physical safety of dorm and staff.
Applicants must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check and meet all minimum qualifications listed on the State of Texas Application. Experience supervising youth and trauma‑informed correctional programs is strongly preferred.
