Education and Experience Requirements

One year certificate from college or technical school and/or three to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises employees in the assigned production area.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policy and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supervises and coordinates all shift activities of assigned production area(s) engaged in the manufacture of wire and cable products by performing the following duties personally or through employees:
  • Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, specifications and scheduled delivery dates to meet customer requirements and assists in establishing necessary revisions.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products in assigned area.
  • Makes personnel assignments, maintains housekeeping and safety standards, interprets policies and procedures, observes assigned employees to ensure compliance with production and quality standards, and conducts employee performance appraisals.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and executes instructions from production management.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization and provides instructions on proper operations.
  • Assists engineering personnel with new process and designs.
  • Enforces rules, resolves worker complaints and problems and submits unresolved situations to production management for action.
  • Completes, maintains and forwards relative production data and assists with monthly inventory.
Skills And Abilities

Required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective verbal communication before groups of customers or employees or organization.
  • Mathematical proficiency: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, compute rates, ratios and percentages, draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Problem‑solving with several concrete variables in standard situations.
  • Physical stamina: stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, use hands and arms to reach and carry; occasionally sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; lift up to 10 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds occasionally; work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; noise level usually loud.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Computer Equipment And Software Requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office:
    Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally sit, lean, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds routinely, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Work in a noisy environment with moving mechanical parts, potential exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and electrical shock risk.
