- Duties may vary based on specific program and position, and may include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates activities of the Medication clinic for consumers with mental health and/or mental illness, within our seven-county catchment area.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, provide medication education, monitor vital signs, administer medication and injections (LVN/CMA/CNA), prepare refill requests and coordinate laboratory testing.
- Provide direct patient care support including observation, and documentation.
- Monitor medication/progress of clinic consumers, assist center doctors in scheduling/monitoring evaluations, track clinic medications, liaison with the contract pharmacy, and provide emergency services as required.
- Work involves frequent in-person planning, development and interagency coordination of required nursing services.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals, interdisciplinary teams, and systems.
- Proficient in accurately and objectively recording data and documentation.
- Ability to follow established service implementation processes to meet the needs of individuals served and adhere to funding source requirements.
- Proficient in the use of computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Possess expert knowledge of purpose, policies and standards of nursing care.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas with one or more years of experience as an LVN.
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Aide in the State of Texas (if applying for CNA/CMA position).
- Prefer 6 months experience working in MHMR setting.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Licensed through the Texas Board of Nursing as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (if applying as LVN).
- Certified through the State of Texas as a Nursing Assistant or Medication Aide (if applying as CNA or CMA).
