The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients under the supervision of physicians or APPs, assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care, and serves as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care for patients under supervision of physicians or advanced practice providers.
- Assist physicians and staff in coordinating patient care.
- Function as primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
- Minimum Education: Completion of a Vocational Nursing Program or an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum
Work Experience:
One year of experience as a licensed vocational nurse. - Required
Licenses/Certifications:
Current state vocational nurse license, Current CPR certificate. - Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies, and functions.
- Understanding of documentation standards.
- Knowledge of equipment, supplies, and materials needed for medical treatment.
- Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
- Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
- Knowledge of medication and pharmacological agents used in a clinic setting.
- Knowledge of disease processes.
- Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
- Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
- Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff and others.
- Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and direct the work of others.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
