Overall Job Summary
This position is responsible for leading the operations of the grooming salon, achieving targeted goals and driving results to grow the business. This includes overseeing daily operations of the salon, training and coaching staff, and providing exceptional customer service to all pet parents and their dogs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
As a Salon Leader, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable and service-oriented, as you must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as dictated by business needs.

- Perform a combination of the following duties throughout their day. Daily tasks may vary, but every Salon Leader must be able to perform all of the following duties accurately, efficiently, and safely on a regular basis:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Groom Shop; including scheduling, safety checklists, and salon audits
- Assist in hiring and onboarding all new Groomers and Groom Technicians, including training, mentoring, and evaluating grooming skills
- Partner with Store Manager to filter communication and manage business to plan
- Drive salon growth through customer calls, appointments, community events, in-store events, and collaboration with rescue groups
- Lead salon team members through professional development, coaching, and performance reviews
- Provide grooming services using knowledge of canine characteristics and grooming styles
- Ensure safe pet handling and demonstrate professionalism
- Handle and maintain grooming equipment properly
- Ensure animal safety and well-being, including inspecting animals for health issues and reporting findings
- Practice safety and sanitization protocols, maintaining grooming tools and equipment
- Maintain pet client records, operate computers, and perform store recovery if needed
- Ensure the safety of live animals, sanitizing and caring for them as required
- Complete all related documentation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years grooming experience under a professional groomer; supervisory experience preferred
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats, demonstrating patience and compassion
- Must provide own grooming tools or be willing to purchase them
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Operate grooming tools and equipment effectively
- Effective communication skills
- Compassionate animal handling
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, basic computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution abilities
Working Conditions
- Indoor environment with moderate noise, exposure to wet conditions, grooming tools, pets, and pet waste
- Work shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move quickly and safely, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform grooming tasks
