GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs complex (journey-level) security enforcement work. Work involves monitoring and patrolling grounds; inspecting and safeguarding youth, staff, visitors, buildings, properties, and equipment; maintaining facility security during the overnight hours.

Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Identifies, reports, confronts, and/or apprehends persons/suspects in cases of unauthorized entry or exit from facility buildings.
  • Greets visitors and maintains logs/records of all persons entering/exiting the facility.
  • Ensures doors and windows are locked and lights are on or off as required.
  • Responds to alarms, investigates and reports disturbances.
  • Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:
    • Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.
    • Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested time frames.
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
  • Actively embodies and supports the Texas Model by demonstrating its core values in daily tasks and interactions with others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Level II or III security guard license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
