Estimator – Groundworks Contractor

We are currently working with a well-established groundworks contractor operating across the Central Belt of Scotland, who are looking to appoint an Estimator to strengthen their commercial and preconstruction team.

This role would ideally suit an experienced Site Engineer (or similar) with a strong understanding of groundworks and civil engineering projects who is looking to transition into an office-based estimating role.

As Estimator, you will be responsible for pricing groundworks and civil engineering packages across a range of projects, supporting tender submissions and working closely with operational and commercial teams.

• Preparing take-offs and estimates for groundworks and civils projects.
• Pricing labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor packages.
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
• Assisting with tender submissions and bid documentation.
• Working closely with site and project teams to ensure buildable, accurate pricing.

• Background as a Site Engineer / Section Engineer / Sub Agent within groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong understanding of groundworks construction methods, sequencing, and costs.
• Keen to move into an estimating or preconstruction role.
• Good IT skills; experience with estimating software is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
