Job Title: Enterprise Support System (ESS) Administrator
Government Agency: Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)
Position Information: Full‑Time Position
Location: FLETC Headquarters – Glynco, GA; or other FLETC Training Delivery Points (TDPs) in Artesia, NM;
Charleston, SC; or Cheltenham, MD (including Washington, DC Office). Some services may be performed remotely. The place of performance will be dependent on the awarded proposal.

Program Overview: The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) train and support federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers. FLETC’s mission relies on secure, stable, and modern IT infrastructure. The Enterprise Support System (ESS) Administrator will maintain availability, performance, and security of the ESS environment.
Position Summary: The ESS Administrator manages the full lifecycle of the ESS environment – servers, databases, storage and security components – ensuring it is secure, stable, and aligned with DHS and FLETC operational requirements.
Responsibilities- Design, install, configure, and maintain the FLETC ESS environment, ensuring high availability, security and optimal performance.
- Administer and manage servers, databases and storage systems supporting ESS operations.
- Implement and maintain security controls, access permissions, and data protection measures in accordance with DHS/FLETC standards.
- Perform system upgrades, patching and capacity planning to ensure continued system health and scalability.
- Monitor ESS system performance and proactively identify, diagnose and resolve operational issues.
- Conduct testing and validation of system updates, configurations and integrations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures and maintenance records.
- Collaborate with IT operations, database and security teams to support ESS integrations with other enterprise systems.
- Participate in audits, compliance reviews and incident response activities as required.
- Provide expert‑level troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis to maintain system reliability and support mission‑critical operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in server, database, storage and security technologies within an enterprise IT environment.
- Proven experience designing, configuring, administering and maintaining complex enterprise systems.
- Strong understanding of system security principles, access control and vulnerability management.
- Proficiency in system monitoring, performance tuning and issue resolution across multiple technology layers.
- Experience developing and maintaining detailed system documentation and operational procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross‑functional technical team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Experience supporting Enterprise Support Systems or comparable large‑scale enterprise service platforms.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, SQL Server and enterprise storage solutions.
- Experience implementing and managing system backups, disaster recovery and high‑availability configurations.
- ITIL certification or experience operating within IT service management frameworks.
- Knowledge of DHS or other federal IT compliance and cybersecurity standards (e.g. FISMA, NIST).
- Strong documentation and customer service orientation.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Candidate must be able to function in a general office environment.
