POSITION INFORMATION:
Full-Time Position
LOCATION:
FLETC Headquarters - Glynco, GA; or other FLETC Training Delivery Points (TDPs) in Artesia, NM;
Charleston, SC; or Cheltenham, MD (including the Washington, DC Office). Some services may be performed remotely. The place of performance will be dependent on the awarded proposal.

Headquartered in Glynco, Georgia, with additional training delivery points in Artesia, New Mexico;
Charleston, South Carolina; and Cheltenham, Maryland, FLETC plays a critical role in developing the skills and readiness of the nation's law enforcement community. This program provides comprehensive Information Technology (IT) Delivery and Operations Support Services (DOSS) to sustain and advance FLETC's mission.
The Senior Systems Engineer - Team Lead supports FLETC's enterprise IT systems to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performance operations across all facilities. The Senior Systems Engineer - Team Lead is responsible for leading enterprise-level systems engineering and operations to maintain optimal performance, security, and efficiency of the FLETC IT infrastructure. This role involves overseeing systems design, maintenance, and troubleshooting while collaborating with network and data center engineering teams to deliver reliable, mission-critical IT services.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and leadership experience in supporting large-scale IT environments within federal or similarly complex settings.
Prioritize system outages, projects, and maintenance tasks while providing hands‑on technical assistance and resolution support to ensure continuous system operations.
- Design, implement, and optimize operational server systems and prototypes based on engineering data, DHS standards, and government requirements.
- Apply advanced knowledge of system engineering principles, protocols, and architecture to evaluate and maintain peak system performance.
- Collaborate closely with Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, equipment vendors, and other IT personnel to identify, define, and resolve complex or trending issues.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair enterprise systems infrastructure, ensuring compliance with FLETC and DHS policies.
- Communicate and coordinate with data center engineering teams to resolve technical issues across distributed data center environments.
- Lead systems documentation efforts, including configuration management, performance baselines, and change control compliance.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reliability, and system performance across the enterprise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Systems Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong technical knowledge of enterprise server systems, virtualization, and system administration best practices.
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Professional, courteous, and effective communicator capable of interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain a USCIS Public Trust security clearance.
- Experience with or certification in the implementation of Technology Business Management (TBM).
- ITIL certification or equivalent experience applying IT service management principles.
- Prior experience supporting federal or large-scale enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience driving process improvement, system optimization, and service delivery excellence.
Candidate must be able to function in a general office environment.
