Accomplish the packaging of frozen food products made on the assigned production lines at the Brunswick facility by performing certain tasks involved in operating the baggers and meeting quality specifications and production needs. Contributes to the profitability of the company by performing tasks in a safe, efficient, quality-conscious, and cost-conscious manner and by working in a cooperative manner with his/her Team Leader and team members.
Responsibilities- Build on the knowledge of processing learned at the Brunswick Plant or at another facility, learn how to operate the baggers and to package product to meet quality specifications and production needs.
- Set up all equipment so that it will run properly.
- Assist maintenance mechanics with preventive maintenance of machinery and report any problems with operation or suspected maintenance needs; assist with greasing bearings and performing other maintenance as mechanic requests.
- Know and have the right specifications for the product being run on the line.
- Prepare baggers to run the correct rollstock needed for the product.
- Ensure the correct materials are brought to the line; if not, notify the Forklift Driver to obtain the correct ones.
- Unstack rollstock from the pallet, place properly on the machine and thread it so the machine will run and seal properly; rollstock weighs 25 to 105 pounds depending on type.
- Ensure the scales are prepared and calibrated correctly.
- Assist in the setup and operation of other packaging equipment as requested by the Team Leader or as production needs dictate (cartoners, formers, tape machines, metal detectors, check weighers).
- Set the scales so the correct amount of product is weighed into each bag.
- Periodically check baggers to ensure weights and seals are maintained; notify Production Team Leader immediately of any problems and work with QA Auditor and Group Leader to correct problems.
- Sweep debris on the floor into small piles, pick it up with a dustpan, and place in the proper waste container; dispose of paper, plastic or other packaging material into the proper trash container.
- Push trash carts or carry tubs of waste materials to the proper disposal area.
- Use a low-pressure water hose to wash down remaining food debris in accordance with plant sanitation policies.
- Use a rubber squeegee to push water toward floor drains.
- Prepare all paperwork required for quality and production records.
High school diploma or GED required. 1 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to follow directions, punctual and reliable in attendance, adherence to safety and quality policies, ability to work as a team, ability to perform basic math, ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Bilingual a plus.
