Base rate: $100,000 per year ($48.07 per hour)

Paid days off: 41 per year

Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high‑quality health services to the state of Georgia’s justice‑involved youth in 25 facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Under the general direction of the Lead Nurse and the clinical direction of the Physician, provide basic medical services utilizing professional medical skills to meet a variety of healthcare needs, with ambulatory care as a primary focus.
  • Evaluate and treat the general medical and health needs of youth.
  • Monitor CQI programs as they relate to patient care.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant in the State of Georgia.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in a clinical setting; preferred 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.
  • Good organizational and decision‑making skills; good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure and relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co‑workers.
  • Compliance with the Georgia Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act (Nurse Practitioners) and Georgia Composite Medical Board Rules (Physician Assistants).
  • Current Health Care Provider BCLS Certification obtained through American Heart or Red Cross Program.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., bend, reach, stoop, stand, and sit for long periods; respond quickly in emergencies (within 4 minutes); normal hearing and vision with corrective appliances if needed; ability to perform BCLS.
  • Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.
