All Coastal Health District County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for populations with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
Job Responsibilities- Under supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures.
- Provides comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
- Functions as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
- Develops care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
- Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
- Serves as patient advocate and refers patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
- Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enters billing information for reimbursement.
- Administers and dispenses medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
- Provides education to clients, families, and community partners.
- Incorporates strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
- Prepares to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Assists with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
- Uses individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
- PH Nurse 1: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and completion of a PHN course within one (1) year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification. $51,811.56
