Job Summary:
The Field Technician II will inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low electrical power equipment such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad‑mount and GSU transformers, grounding equipment, instrument transformers, and a variety of switches. Technicians will implement safety policies and maintain accurate test reports.
Responsibilities:
- Perform entry‑level testing of high, medium, and low electrical power equipment independently while coordinating with senior technicians.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components as needed.
Qualifications:
- Able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
Preferred
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with voltage verification, contact resistance, insulation resistance, and test equipment set‑up.
- Read and understand one‑line drawings and identify hazards.
- Knowledge of LOTO, arc flash, grounding, and reading electrical schematics.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or equivalent military experience preferred.
- 2–4 years relevant industry experience.
- NETA II certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.
