SummaryProvides professional patient care and practices occupational therapy by implementing and documenting treatment under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Treats patients in accordance with the order from the physician and the plan of care established by the Occupational Therapist. Will provide treatment through the use of a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices intended to maximize functional potential in all areas of the patient's life.
Implements an individualized treatment plan based on the Occupational Therapist's evaluation and plan of care to address patient needs. Collaborates with supervising Occupational Therapists throughout the treatment process to discuss updates and revisions as needed. Establishes and instructs patients, families, and other caregivers in exercises and therapeutic home programs to be continued following discharge. Completes appropriate documentation and billing in a timely manner.
All care is provided in accordance with the philosophy and essential functions of the hospital, the rehabilitation department, the Indiana State Practice Act, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and the Joint Commission.
Must have an Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Licensure/CertificationMust be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state where services will be provided within the first 90 days of employment. Must be certified in CPR or must become certified within the first 90 days of employment. Must maintain all certifications and licensure according to the expiration date. American Occupational Therapy Association membership preferred. If assigned to drive a company vehicle, a valid driver's license is required.
If assigned to drive a personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver's license.
Work experience preferred, but not required other than clinical experience within educational training program.
Other QualificationsMust be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, may be required to push/pull up to 300 pounds. Must be willing to work at other locations as assigned.
