Job Summary:

KBTX News invites a Digital Innovation Fellow to collaborate with its award‑winning digital team over a year. The Fellow will devise sustainable, cross‑platform strategies to share local news with new and nontraditional audiences and lead projects that boost streaming viewership.

• Craft compelling content for all digital platforms, including the station website, streaming apps, news app, video, and push alerts.
• Write accurate, AP‑style news stories and produce timely, engaging social‑media content.
• Respond quickly to developing news and report breaking stories online.
• Apply SEO strategies, video sourcing, and production skills across distribution channels.
• Collaborate with editors, reporters, producers, and other newsroom staff to ensure up‑to‑date content.
• Maintain the station’s high journalistic standards and innovate practical newsroom solutions.
• Engage in other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field (or final year of a bachelor’s program).
• Strong AP‑style writing, copy‑editing, and video editing skills.
• Experience with video sourcing and production.
• Familiarity with content management systems.
• Knowledge of SEO, social‑media platforms, and digital trends.
• Ability to adjust strategy based on evolving needs and collaborate across teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Schedule flexibility.
