Job Summary /Description

KBTX is looking for an innovative newscast producer to join our award-winning team. We’re seeking someone who lives for urgent, impactful coverage of what’s new, now and next, and excels in breaking news and weather situations.

Daily, you’ll oversee the region’s top-rated news magazine show, working with a team of journalists from varied backgrounds to create a program that resonates with viewers. You’ll also take an active role in guiding our digital news updates, using our CTV studio to help grow cross-platform audiences. You’ll also be at the helm of KBTX’s award-winning sports programming, including Friday Football Fever, our weekly high school highlights show, and Aggie Gameday, KBTX’s long-running Texas A&M football pregame show.

You must approach each assignment with a passion for great, human stories, enjoy and remain active on social media, and constantly be competing for the day’s top story. If you have a passion for journalism and a talent for storytelling, this is the job for you. Great writing and a willingness to learn will earn you this position.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Researching, writing, and editing daily content for television and web platforms
  • Producing a quality, accurate show that resonates with key demographics
  • Identifying the day’s most important stories and sourcing materials relevant to your audience
  • Working with management and staff to generate stories and content
  • Meeting daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Planning and timing show how to meet ratings goals
Qualifications/Requirements
  • At least one year of experience in a TV newsroom, as well as a college degree in broadcast journalism or a related field, is preferred.
  • Experience with ENPS or EDIUS non-linear editing software is a big plus.
