Job Summary and Responsibilities
Responsible for greeting patients, communicating with departments, scheduling appointments, answering phones, receiving payments, verifying necessary information and records in the medical record. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.
- Greets patients in a polite, prompt, helpful manner and provides any necessary instructions/directions. Informs the appropriate department of the patient’s arrival, oversees the waiting area, and organizes patient flow.
- Answers the phone in a pleasant manner and handles patient needs expeditiously.
- Uses EMR to generate information necessary for billing. Verifies and updates patient information, collects copay, obtains patient signatures as needed, completes necessary paperwork, issues receipts, and enters patient’s insurance information into the database. Manages, directs, and monitors coding activities for all services, including distributing daily charge tickets to the billing company.
- Obtains referral information and schedules surgeries, outpatient appointments, and admissions.
- Sends and receives the patient’s medical records, assembles patient charts for next day visits, and plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of the medical records.
- Assists physicians with clerical tasks, coordinates service requests, maintains clinic office and equipment, informs the administrator of operational problems, manages mail room functions (sorting and distribution of mail), and orders and inventories supplies.
- Assists with training and supervision of staff to help them develop performance goals and objectives.
- Assists patients with questions on insurance claims, home healthcare, and medical equipment, and administers, directs, plans, and coordinates all office activities to provide full benefit of clinic services.
- Education: High school graduate
- Experience: Minimum 1 year clinic experience preferred
- Skills: Computer programs/EMR
Pay Range: $12.10 - $17.09 /hour
Location: College Station, TX
