Ohio Guidestone is currently seeking a qualified Substance Abuse Therapist for our Walk‑In Clinic in Bryan, OH. The ideal candidate will have experience working with those who are undergoing treatments for Substance Abuse related disorders. A minimum of a CDCA with 1 year experience is needed. Preference for LCDCII or LCDCIII candidates will be given. Additional credentials (LSW/LPC) are a plus!
Job SummaryThe Therapist works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and is responsible for providing treatment services consistent with CDCA or LCDC scopes of practice.
Essential Functions- Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with client, family, and caregivers to provide them support as appropriate.
- Interact with clients in a supportive manner, encouraging discussion and activities focused on recovery.
- Monitor client symptoms as well as response to treatment; communicate changes with treatment team to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions.
- Assist in crisis intervention as appropriate.
- Serve as a liaison to coordinate, make referrals, or arrange for appropriate community resources when needed, and act as an advocate for the client as needed.
- Actively participate in treatment conferences and meetings for the clients.
- Perform related administrative responsibilities; maintain client information, reports, records, and other documents; respond timely to emails and phone calls; attend and conduct various trainings and meetings; communicate with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance, and consult with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.
- Accurately and promptly document and maintain confidentiality of client and family interactions including legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines.
- Maintain ongoing frequent contact with other assigned Ohio Guidestone professionals or outside agency professionals assigned to case.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Exhibit positivity, flexibility, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
- Promote a team‑based work environment and present the agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.
- Chemical Dependency Counselor assistant (CDCA) required.
- LCDCII or LCDCIII preferred.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED also required.
- Candidates with LSW or LPC welcome!
- Positive, caring attitude toward substance use disorder (SUD) clients and their families.
- Knowledgeable about the disease of substance use disorder and community resources.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Proficient computer skills, including Electronic Health Records, Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
- Organizational skills, team player and attention to detail.
- Ability to form relationships with diverse populations within diverse settings.
- Work flexible hours, which can include days, evenings and weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients and the Ohio Guidestone and be available for crisis management by phone as needed.
