Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Operator is responsible for safely unloading, moving, transferring, and loading finished products and raw materials using appropriate equipment while adhering to authorized procedures and safety protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of all material movements, inspect equipment, and perform routine maintenance. Receives functional guidance from Production Planning Supervisor. May include other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Safely unload, move, transfer, and load finished product and raw materials from trucks or rail cars to tanks, tanks to trucks, rail cars, ISOs, totes, or other containers using appropriate equipment following authorized Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and Standard Operating Conditions (SOC)
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) on a continuous basis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation tracking all finished product and raw material movements
  • Inspect equipment for damage, defects, or other issues and report any issues to Shift Lead or supervisor
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance of equipment and systems to ensure Document and coordinate with maintenance specialists when needed.
  • Maintain and optimize all procedures and work instructions related to their assigned process
  • Proactively communicate regarding the need for spare parts and preventative
  • Assist in troubleshooting non-conformance products using the Trouble Reports System, teamwork and collaboration to correct the situation.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and ability to handle hazardous materials safely, including DOT, IMDG, IATA, and RCRA regulations

Education & Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of general work experience
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Technical certification from accredited school
  • Previous rail yard, forklift, or operating plant experience
  • Previous experience operating valves, gauging tanks, performing maintenance on equipment, or driving a yard mule
Physical Requirements
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts
  • Work outside in all types of weather including cold, heat and inclement weather
  • Lift and carry loads of up to 50 lbs
  • Climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment
  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on a daily basis on even and uneven terrain
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
