Primary Function
The Maintenance Scheduler/Parts Room Supervisor is a dual working role that schedules production equipment maintenance through prioritization of ready work orders, equipment preventive maintenance (PM) due dates, and emergency repair requests to minimize production disruption while overseeing day‑to‑day activities of hourly associates monitoring and distributing parts needed for repairs.
Responsibilities and Tasks- Evaluate maintenance work order load, upcoming PMs, any emergency repair requests, availability of parts or equipment, and time needed for repairs daily; prioritize and re‑schedule repairs and PMs to maximize maintenance staff efficiency while minimizing production disruption.
- Generate and update equipment preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, adjusting as needed to meet changing conditions (e.g., run times, production schedules).
- Maintain records for maintenance performed, parts used, cost, etc., for effective analysis.
- Develop and maintain the backlog of ready‑to‑complete work orders for maintenance staff.
- Run and distribute open item reports, verify accuracy, and circulate to appropriate personnel.
- Create work orders as needed ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Oversee day‑to‑day activities of associates monitoring and distributing parts.
- Mentor, coach, train/cross‑train employees, encouraging career development; provide consistent feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leaders, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all mandatory areas to promote a zero‑accident culture.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
- Lead people with core competencies of sizing up people, delegation, planning, customer focus, and conflict management.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years of scheduling/planning experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including policy adherence, conflict resolution, and efficient issue resolution.
- Ability to effectively assign tasks to maintenance technicians.
- Experience in general and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing environment; poultry experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; multilingual strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle and resolve most issues efficiently, ensuring confidential information is relayed on a need‑to‑know basis.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, plan, and pay high attention to detail.
- Strong customer‑centric attitude, high energy level, and sense of urgency.
- Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
- Wear required protective equipment in all mandatory areas.
- Work non‑standard shifts (holidays, weekends, extended) as needed.
- Be exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production.
- May be exposed to heat (99°F, 37°C) and cold (45°F, 4°C).
- Work around live and/or raw animal odors.
