Minimum Qualifications- Previous experience operating construction equipment and maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of earthwork, road, and highway construction is preferred.
- High school diploma/GED is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are preferred.
- Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime) and weekends.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons.
- Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
- Perform daily equipment, walk-around, and site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Safely perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on the blade/motor grader.
- Operate the blade/motor grader safely and properly, regulating height and angle of the grader blade, lowering scarifier, and tilting front wheels when making sharp turns. Drive in successive passes to level surfaces to specified grade, monitoring engine sounds and levelness. May perform fine or rough grading.
- Assist laborers or roller operators with dumping trucks and keeping load counts.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress. Be self-motivated, a team player, and maintain positive customer relations.
- Work independently without supervision.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems related to material quality and equipment operation/repair. Discuss production issues with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
