Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement

• Rotate holidays with core staff - 1 major holiday required

• Float between Bryan and College Station campus locations (16 minutes apart)

• First to float as needed to assist other units without taking assignment

• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam with 83% score before contract signing (3 attempts allowed)

• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity: general acute care 1:3-4, Level I traumas 1:1 or 2:1, TNK 1:1 for first hour, vertical care 1:6-8

• Provide care for typical ER patients including chest pain, fever, trauma cases, pediatric patients% of population), and geriatric patients

• Handle Level III trauma cases, primary stroke center patients, and STEMI receiving procedures

• Work with common drips including Diltiazem, Cardene, Nitro, Propofol, Fentanyl, and Levophed

• Perform chest tubes, rapid transfusions, and care for intubated patients

• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC

• Minimum 2+ years of ER experience required with similar patient volume and trauma level

• Use MEDITECH charting system and Pulse Check or Picis EMR

• Dress code:
Navy scrubs with navy undershirts; scrub jackets optional but must be navy

• 3-shift unit orientation provided

• Call outs strongly discouraged and could lead to termination

• No call or standby requirements

• Hybrid scheduling with some self-scheduling and block scheduling

This healthcare facility operates a comprehensive emergency department with 30 beds including 2 trauma bays and 24 acute care beds. The facility features a Level III trauma center with primary stroke center capabilities and comprehensive services. The emergency department treats an average of 135 patients daily and serves as the highest trauma area in the region, covering 9 counties with their own EMS agency and helicopter service.

The facility maintains 24/7 physician coverage with midlevel support and offers specialized areas including vertical care (fast track) and separate triage with dedicated staff for patient registration and initial assessment.
