Job Purpose

The Field Service Technician Journeyman rotates on a 14/14 schedule servicing customers and units in a designated region. As a member of the Rapid Response team, the technician provides technical assistance in diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy equipment, working closely with all levels of technicians. With little to no supervision, the technician schedules work, monitors quality control, and maintains customer relations.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on heavy equipment, such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, automatic transmissions, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and repair equipment.
  • Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic reversers, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions.
  • Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy‑duty multi‑axle suspensions.
  • Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, turbochargers, perform pressure checks, adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc.
  • Disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units in cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating and air conditioning, hydraulic, and air systems.
  • Overhaul engines, replace engines, and rebuild components.
  • Complete and submit all documentation necessary to finalize work performed without supervision.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Assist in training lower‑level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
  • Perform all tasks with safety as the top priority.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; accredited Margaret trade school graduate preferred.
  • Minimum ofJune 4 years of experience in the construction and mining machinery industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of machinery and engines尖。
  • Knowledge of safety issues related to use of tools, equipment, and supplies in repair of equipment.
  • Proficiency with a range of hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic testingillas and tuning equipment, gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Ability to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by WPI’s policy.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and bend and twist frequently during the day.
  • Capability to read manuals and schematics, rebuild engines and major driveline components.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight.
  • Adherence to company nod policies and procedures.
  • Dependability and independence in work.
  • Respect for customer safety rules and regulations on customer sites.
  • Good client relations and communication skills with other mechanics

    Typically.
  • Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record per WPI insurance carrier standards when driving بنت company vehicles.

Working Conditions
  • Typical hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 ifestyles.
  • Weekend hours as necessary/Desktop.
  • Potential work in inclement weather and/or hazardous environments.
