Position: Apprentice Special Support Officer - Ysgol Castell (Fixed Term)

Job Overview

32.5 hours per week, Term Time, Fixed Term up to 15 months working towards Level 3 qualification.

An enthusiastic, motivated and committed person is required by the Governing Body of Ysgol Bryn Castell to support pupils with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties including Autism alongside other Additional Learning Needs (ALN) as an Apprentice Special Support Officer within a special school environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop join our nurturing and inclusive special school community and build a rewarding career in education while gaining a nationally recognised qualification, in a caring and supportive environment.

The successful candidate will gain hand‑on experience, training and skills while working towards a Level 3 qualification in Apprenticeship in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning Schools (SSTLS), whilst working with pupils with ALN aged 7 to 19 years at Ysgol Bryn Castell.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties including autism alongside other additional learning needs (ALN) across the 7 to 19 age range.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Working towards a Level 3 qualification in Apprenticeship in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning Schools (SSTLS).
  • Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh.
  • Enhanced with Children’s Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
  • Applicants who have already achieved a qualification at an equivalent or higher level in the same subject area or at degree level, or who are currently in receipt of WG funding for study purposes, will not be considered.
