30 hrs per week

Contract:

Full Time – Term Time
Salary: £8.60p.h

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed PE Apprentice to join our primary school team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sport and physical activity and wants to inspire children by being a positive sporting role model.

In this role, you will help organise and deliver fun, safe Health and Wellbeing sessions, including PE lessons and activities that promote both physical and mental health. You will support pupils in understanding the importance of staying active and caring for their wellbeing, and will have opportunities to lead extra activities for small groups, as well as assisting within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver PE and Health and Wellbeing sessions for pupils of different ages.
  • Encourage and motivate all pupils, regardless of ability, to take part in physical activities.
  • Lead small group enrichment activities, outdoor learning, and team‑building exercises.
  • Help organise and run lunchtime and after‑school sports clubs.
  • Support pupils in developing their numeracy, literacy, digital, and creative skills.
  • Provide support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
Ideal Candidate
  • Be a positive and inspiring sporting role model for pupils.
  • Show confidence and initiative when planning PE and Health and Wellbeing sessions.
  • Work effectively with and organise support staff to deliver PE and sports sessions.
  • Plan and lead safe, fun activities for small groups during playtimes, lunchtimes, and after‑school clubs.
  • Be flexible and adaptable when working with pupils and staff.
Essential Criteria
  • Strong sporting background.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Experience working with young people in a coaching or educational setting.
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous experience with young people in a coaching or educational setting.
  • Strong sporting background (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
Apprenticeship Programme

The successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes on‑the‑job training, off‑the‑job training covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development and learning strategies, regular assessments and feedback, and additional learning support particularly in literacy, numeracy and communication. This apprenticeship offers a career pathway in education with progression opportunities upon successful completion.
