Job Summary
Perform diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department, rotate through diagnostic radiology as assigned, and uphold radiation and general safety at all times.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program.
- Radiography certification with the ARRT or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification within 6 months of hire.
- Current or temporary radiography license as required by state board where services will be provided.
- Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable) as required.
- One year of experience as a computed tomography technologist.
- Prepares room, equipment, materials and cleans and disinfects rooms after each patient exam following current infection control policies.
- Performs examinations per physician's orders and explains procedures to patients.
- Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes.
- Transports and assists patients as needed.
- Documents status of patient in radiology/CT procedure on patient's chart.
- Maintains supply inventory and performs general office duties.
- Practices safe radiation exposure and protection and general safety.
- Complies with policy and procedures for departmental and hospital-wide programs.
- Produces diagnostic quality CT images, judging technique and image quality.
- Performs mobile radiographic exams in emergency or surgical settings.
- Provides care to all patient demographics; may perform IV insertion/blood draws.
- Administers contrast per protocol.
- Utilizes PACS for exam completion and availability.
- Performs all related duties as assigned by manager or lead technologist.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling.
- Must be able to lift, move, and position patients up to 100 lbs occasionally; up to 20 lbs constantly.
- Hearing and visual acuity within normal range.
- Exposure to body fluids, human tissues, contagious diseases, sharps, gases, cleaning agents, and disinfectants.
- High stress and constant interruptions.
- Exposure to ionizing and non‑ionizing radiation.
- Knowledge of patient development and scope of treatment.
- Understanding of biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural, ethical, and discharge planning needs.
- Focus on pain and symptom control for patients not responsive to curative treatment.
