Job Description To work directly with primary and secondary school aged children and young people who display social, emotional, behavioural and communication needs. To work with education providers and partners to promote inclusive practice and autism friendly learning environments. Through a focus on health and wellbeing you will support a nurturing, restorative, solution focussed environment where children and young people work towards positive social, emotional and behavioural self-management and sensory response using known strategies and approaches.

You will work with colleagues to establish trusting and empowering relationships with children and young people to promote independence, resilience, and re-engagement with learning. You will support the planning and will deliver targeted and time limited individual and small group work programmes to meet identified priorities for children and young people.## Responsibilities
* Work directly with children and young people and colleagues to model and promote inclusive practice and autism friendly learning environments - according to the principles of nurture, restorative practices and solution oriented work, statutory requirements and school priorities
* Support the planning required in order to work with colleagues to deliver, evidence and evaluate individual and small group work programmes to meet identified priorities for children and young people, including alternative curricular activities which reduce social anxiety and stress
* To support and facilitate the delivery of wellbeing and wider achievement awards for children and young people
* To support the development and delivery of services within the school
* Health and Safety duties linked to pupils## The Individual
* Experience of work with children and young people who display social, emotional, and behavioural needs
* Experience of working with children and young people with social and communication needs
* Experience of working within a young person's environment
* A minimum of 4 national 5s, or 4 Standard Grades at level 2 or above. Must include English and Maths
* Self confident and self motivated
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to plan and facilitate activities
* Effective communication skills, oral and written
* Effective organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work as part of a team contributing to service development
* Display ability and commitment to training and subsequent staff development as required
* Child centred

* You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
